Aristotle (384 - 323 B.C.) marks the culmination of classical Greek philosophy. He re-evaluated the ideas of his predecessors to transform them into one of the most influential bodies of thought in human history. In science, his ideas laid the foundations for Western thinking up to the Renaissance. His ideas about ethics and politics played a significant role in the political theories leading to the emergence of democratic government and continue to provide a framework for addressing ethical and political questions. And in the field of logic, he elaborated a system which was used without modification until the late 19th century.
